01. Revamp

02. Scream

03. Mandy

  • Andrew refers to Salome pulling the Nyazian Fang from nowhere as "Hammerspace". This is a reference to cartoon physics, in which the ability for a cartoon character to pull a mallet out of nowhere is referred to as "pulling it from Hammerspace". It was popularized in Ranma 1/2 fandom referring to Akane Tendo.
  • Unbeknowest to Mandy, the tattoo she has on her back was designed by Salome.
  • This is Sophie's first episode without Clem also appearing.
  • Mandy is actually mentioned in 1x22: Coda as one of the Slayers training when Faith is giving Jamie a tour.

  • Marks the first appearance of Archie Kao as Crawford Lee.
  • Much of this episode is an homage to "Phantom of the Opera" and its different incarnations. In particular, "Phantom of the Paradise", the 1974 Brian De Palma rock musical.
  • Crawford Lee's first name is a tribute to Michael Crawford, the man who originated the role of the Phantom of the Opera in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical version.
  • Crawford was scarred on May 22, 2001, the same night as Buffy's (second) death.
  • Oni says she's not a virgin, whether or not she lost her virginity to Wesley or to a demon are unknown.
  • Salome calls herself Qua-Ha Xahn, the same title Knox referred to himself to in "Shells", Qua-Ha Xahn is Gashuni for "High Priest/Priestess"
  • The title of this episode comes from Hamlet, with "Palo Alto" substituted for "Denmark".

  • Jinx, Glory's head minion from BtVS S5 reappears, now serving Glory's sister, Magnimus.
  • Connor turns twenty-one (or four, depending on your point of view).
  • Spike makes his first real appearance in The Nyazian Prophecies (not including Andrew's dream sequence in "To Be"). Spike previously met Connor (as Connor Angel, not Connor Riley), Salome, Jamie and Oni in the movie "Battle of the Champions", though we only saw him talk to Connor.
  • We find out Connor, with the help of Willow, changed his name back to Connor Angel (and presumably hacked his birth record to list Angel and Darla as his parents) in an effort to protect the Rileys from demons.
  • The government agency Riley works for is known as Department H, short for Hostile Sub-Terrestial.
  • Department H lists demons by level. Salome is reported as a Meta-Demon Level 5, however it's noted that she should be watched as she her level is expected to rise.

08. Son of a Gun (2)

09. Substitute

10. Kiss of the Undead

Connor and his friends are trapped in Mandy's National Novel Writing Month story, a gritty supernatural crime drama... The plot of which makes Angel the captive of a mobster.

  • Most of the characters "played" by the cast are unnamed, however Mandy mentions a few of them: Adam (Andrew), Cameron (Connor), Sarah (Salome) and Xavier (Xander)
  • Crawford Lee was originally to appear in this episode, but was cut for pacing.
  • After appearing the last four episode, Angel and Spike leave town.
  • Connor is giving a black Dodge Viper by Angel as a belated birthday present.
  • Connor proposes to Salome, but admits to Mandy later he's not ready for such a big step and pretends it was because of the spell.
  • Patrick Stewart (Bones Malloy) acted with both Vincent Kartheiser and Anna Paquin, in "Masterminds" and the X-Men trilogy, respectively.

11. Semper Fidelis (1)

  • Connor, Jamie and Salome's past self end up interacting with the Angel Cast during the episode "Magic Bullet".
  • Salome's knowledge of the Cronos Crystal is an example of an ontological paradox. She learns this information from Connor in the past, while Connor learns it from her in the future.
  • The first appearance of the mysterious Gatekeeper, a part Nyazian who exists outside of time.

13. Cracking Up

  • The Nyazian Fang is reforged by Illyria.
  • While arguing with Illyria, Connor refers to Salome as his wife.
  • As of this episode, Salome has fought more gods than any other character in the Buffyverse: Magnimus (2x04: Fissures), Jasmine (2x12: Tempus Fugit) and Illyria. In second place are Connor (Magnimus and Jasmine) and Angel (Jasmine and Illyria).

14. Guilt

  • Sophie's last name is Talbot. Clem took her last name, because his last name is vulgar in English.
  • According to Mandy, Buffy recently died (briefly) in Lisbon.
  • Buffy Summers makes her first appearance in the Nyazian Prophecies when Mandy goes on the Slayer spiritual quest.
  • Sarah Michelle Gellar was credited at the end of the episode to keep her appearance a secret.
  • The episode is title after a (probably apocryphal) quote from George III, supposedly written in his journal on July 4, 1776. It was previously used as the title of an X-Files episode (something Emcee completely forgot about, but is probably where she first heard the quote)
